Editor training
I have been undertaking professional training in editing since 2023. To date, I’ve completed the Copyediting 1: Introduction course offered by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and the following courses offered by the Simon Fraser University:
- Proofreading
- Copyediting
- Grammar
- Plain Language
- Document Design and Production for Editors
I am also an Entry-Level Member of the CIEP and I am bound by its Professional Practice Code. I am also a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association.
I have volunteered my time as an editor with Lebanese students and other students living in Lebanon and with various authors writing for Zealousness, the online magazine of iN Education. I have also spent a few months volunteering as a technical document writer for LibreOffice.
Scientific background
I have a PhD in science from the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich, Switzerland). My thesis was at the crossroads of molecular diagnostics, plant pathology and genomics. You can read the abstract of my PhD thesis here.
My previous academic qualifications include a BSc in Agriculture from the American University of Beirut (Lebanon) and an MSc in Environmental and Natural Resources, with a focus in soil chemistry, from the University of Helsinki (Finland).
