Editorial services
Copyediting
Every draft is unique and I will need to assess your draft and your needs before proposing a quote. Please refer to my Terms and Conditions page for more information regarding the workflow.
I use the Editorial Freelancers Association’s definition of copyediting.
Here is a list of what I will do when I copyedit your draft:
- I will check for spelling, punctuation and grammar errors.
- I will make sure your draft consistently follows the journal’s author guidelines.
- For everything that the journal’s author guidelines do not cover, I will ensure consistency throughout (e.g. capitalization, date format, scientific nomenclature, numbers, units).
- I will make sure that tables, figures and illustrations are numbered correctly; I will also check their content against the text and their captions.
- I will ask you about any obvious factual inaccuracies.
- I will flag potential legal issues.
- I will check for overall coherence and I will suggest changes to improve readability.
Add-on services*
*add-on services can only be booked in addition to the main editorial service!
References formatting
I will check if the references and citations are formatted to the journal’s guidelines and will correct any that are not.
I charge 2.5 CHF per reference. Please note that to format your references, I need to unlink your bibliography and citations from the citation manager.
Cover letter support
When submitting your manuscript to the journal, you need to also send a cover letter. In this cover letter, addressed to the journal editor, you outline why your manuscript’s research fits the journal’s scope. I will make sure that the letter has all the important information for the journal editor to make an informed decision regarding the fit of your manuscript.
Rebuttal letter support
After your draft has been peer-reviewed for publication in the journal, you will most likely receive a list of questions, concerns and suggestions from the reviewers. The rebuttal letter is your chance to address your reviewers’ concerns.
I will make sure that:
- you have addressed every reviewers’ comment
- you have explained any disagreements
- the letter follows the journal’s instructions on writing a rebuttal letter
- the letter is easy to follow.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me through my contact page or via email.
